The people of Bandjoun in the Koung-Khi division of the West Region have showcased their rich cultural heritage to the world via the 9th edition of the Sem Todjom biannual festival which rounded up over the weekend at the Bandjoun Royal palace.
This edition which was organized under the chair of HRM Djomo Kamga Honoré, centered on the theme ” Language, a culture at the service of sustainable development”
It was an occasion for sons and daughters of Bandjoun to gather and get connected to their ancestors and feast with their brothers, sisters and people from all corners of Cameroon and beyond.
The festival was marked by activities such as traditional dances, especially Tso dance which was performed by HRM Djomo Kamga Honoré together with his peers traditional authorities.
HRM Djomo Kamga Honoré also expressed his wish to see the festival registered in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the years ahead.
The closing ceremony was marked by the presence of minister Ismael Bidoung Kpatt of arts and culture who appreciated the hospitality and coexistence shown by the people of Bandjoun.
Also present were high rank personalities in the likes of Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, Sultan Nabil Mbombo Njoya of the Bamoun people, HM Negou Tella Guillaume II of Baleng, HM Moumbe Fotso Mitterand of Bamougoum and many others.
