CONSTRUCTION OF AFRICA-SOUTH AMERICA SUBMARINE CABLE DUE FOR COMPLETION IN Q3 2018

LUANDA– The installation of the fiber-optic submarine cable between Africa and South America to establish a direct communications link between the two continents will be completed in the third quarter of this year, says Angola Cables.

With the launch of the project in Luanda and Fortaleza in Brazil, the waiting time for communications of about 350 thousandth of a second will be reduced to just over 60 thousandth of a second, adds the Angolan telecommunications cables company.

Angola Cables, which owns the South Atlantic Cable System (SACS) or Angola-Btazil submarine cable, said in a media statement here Thursday that the connection to the Brazilian state of Ceara, when operational, will bring significant improvements in communications between Angola and other African countries and the Americas.
