SOUTH AFRICA’S DLO ENERGY TO HOST 5TH AFRICA POWER ROUNDTABLE
A black, woman-owned South African investment and advisory company operating in the energy sector in Africa, DLO Energy Resources Group, will be hosting the 5TH Africa Power Roundtable on Feb 1 and 2, 2017, in Sandton, near here.
This initiative will seek to provide a platform through which governments, developers and investors have the opportunity to find creative solutions to securing Africa’s energy future, DLO Managing Director Linda Mabhena-Olangunju says.
She told the South African broadcasting Corporation here Monday that the initiative started from the growing need to address the electricity deficit not just in South Africa, but across the continent.
Initially the forum started off as a South Africa-focused forum when we were facing our own blackouts. Then we realised we are not the only ones facing this deficit and we wanted to include the rest of the continent.
Meanwhile, Stella Duru, a partner with the South African law firm of Banwo & Ighodalo. said Nigeria had started the whole reform process in its electricity sector about 12 years ago.
What we had initially was one integrated, vertical government-owned entity and it wasn’t just working because government had to fund the supply of power to the whole of the nation, she said.
