Boulgou: ‘Operation Mana Mana’ Mobilizes Communities for CMA Cleanup

Boulgou: The populations of the municipalities of Zabre, Zoaga, and Zonse, collectively known as “3Z”, took part in a significant weeding operation at the Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) in Zabre on Saturday. “It is inconceivable that the place where we come to seek health should be dirty,” declared the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zabre.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this weeding initiative, which was launched last year by the Zabre special delegation, saw its first phase in August. On Saturday, armed with tools such as machetes, dabas, rakes, wheelbarrows, carts, and tricycles, various community members including administrative and traditional authorities, youth, women, and the elderly from the “3Z” areas gathered to commence the second phase of the operation. This collective effort aimed at cleaning up the Zabre health district.

The prefect and president of the Zabre special delegation (PDS), Alain Boubie Bassono, expressed that the poor condition of the center was unac
ceptable. “We want our health workers to be able to work in a healthy environment in order to properly care for the sick. In view of this strong mobilization, I am convinced that the CMA will regain its splendor,” he stated. He also acknowledged the contributions of his PDS colleagues from the other two communes, along with administrative authorities, traditional chiefs, association leaders, and the entire population of the three communes.

District Medical Officer’s representative, Dr. Souleymane Sawadogo, expressed gratitude towards the population for their efforts, highlighting that this action will help maintain a healthy environment conducive to effective healthcare delivery. “This gesture is noble and will contribute to providing quality care to patients,” he remarked.

Women played a significant role in the operation, with the secretary general of the Zabre women’s communal coordination, Mariam Zinsoni, commending the initiative. She emphasized the importance of the effort, saying, “Where there are wom
en, there are children, there is disease. Responding to this PDS call for weed control is responding to the call of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who asks us to rely on ourselves. That’s why we responded in large numbers this morning.”

The concerted effort led to the CMA regaining its splendor before noon, showcasing the power of community mobilization. The Zabre health district encompasses the municipalities of Zabre, Zoaga, and Zonse.
