Ouagadougou: A partnership was formalized on Tuesday between the Sabou town hall and the Humanitarian Relief Organization (OSEH) for the construction of a new, fully equipped maternity ward. Sabou is also set to improve its sanitation infrastructure with the creation of an independent water station.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the signing ceremony saw Abdoul Aziz Koara, chairman of the special municipal delegation, expressing gratitude to OSEH and the Human Rights and Freedoms Foundation of Turkey, its financial partner. Mr. Koara highlighted that the initiative is the result of sustained advocacy to address the outdated conditions of the medical center’s maternity ward, which was originally built in 1960.
The new facility aims to enhance the working conditions of healthcare staff, ultimately ensuring higher quality care for the local population. Mr. Koara also called upon the residents of Sabou to engage actively in the project’s realization.
The signing event was attended by numerous local figures, including Dr. Mariata Ouedraogo, Chief Medical Officer of the Sabou district, and representatives of traditional leaders, women, technical partners, and civil society.
