Koulpelogo: As part of its humanitarian activities, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) distributed food to 2,000 vulnerable households in Koulpelogo province. The food aid, including bags of millet, beans, rice, canned oil, and salt, aims to alleviate the suffering of internally displaced persons and populations in need.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the commune of Ouargaye, affected by the internally displaced persons crisis, received targeted aid with the distribution of food kits to 500 households. Each household received a kit containing 50 kg of millet, 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of beans, 10 liters of oil, and 1 kg of salt. During the handover, the head of the Ouargaye special delegation, Mahamadou Soulama, praised the ICRC’s ongoing commitment to the local population, emphasizing that this support is crucial for improving the living conditions of internally displaced persons and vulnerable people.
In Sangha, the ICRC distributed 1,500 additional food kits to vulnerable people, including internally displaced persons. Each kit contained the same food as those distributed in Ouargaye, and the distribution lasted four days. Young volunteers actively helped facilitate this operation.
The ICRC’s actions demonstrate its unwavering commitment to improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations, particularly internally displaced persons, in a province facing considerable humanitarian challenges. Armand Noukoubri, Secretary-General of the Koulpelogo Provincial Committee of the Red Cross, stated that this support is an important gesture that once again provides relief to the population. This food distribution marks the ICRC’s continued effort to address the needs of those affected by crises.
