Nahouri: More than 200 women from the commune of Po were screened free of charge by a mobile clinic as part of a breast and cervical cancer awareness initiative. This effort is part of the Pink October campaign, dedicated to fighting these cancers.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the mobile clinic, an effort born from the presidential health initiative, visited the Urban Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in Po on Friday, October 24, 2025. After visiting Dakola and Guiaro, the clinic set up at the Urban CSPS of Po, located in sector N°4, and managed to screen over 200 women from the town. Despite the sunny weather, women turned out in large numbers for the screening.
Dr. Hyppolite Sawadogo, a gynecologist at the CMA in Po, emphasized the importance of the mobile clinics, noting their role in supporting health services and bringing care closer to populations, especially in remote areas. “We welcome this wonderful initiative, which provides relief to vulnerable populations,” Dr. Sawadogo stated, highlighting prevention as the best treatment for cancer. He stressed that early detection of the disease can lead to a 100% cure rate.
Women like Fati Yaguibou and Ami Korabou expressed their gratitude towards the President of Faso for this initiative, which they believe has saved many women who might have suffered from the condition unknowingly. Abou-Dramane Bila, the major of the Urban CSPS, also expressed satisfaction with the initiative, hoping for more such events in the province.
The campaign also included educational sessions for women on breast self-examination and preventive measures against cervical cancer, including the vaccination of girls aged 9 to 13 against the virus causing the disease. This initiative underlines the social and humanitarian scope of the presidential health initiative by bringing quality care to rural populations.
