Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, inaugurated the 15th edition of the National Forum for Scientific Research and Technological Innovations (FRSIT) on Wednesday, delivering a candid message to the country’s research community.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Captain Traore emphasized the critical role of innovation and scientific research in Burkina Faso’s progress during the People’s Progressive Revolution. He encouraged researchers, inventors, and innovators to overcome challenges and assured them of governmental support. The President announced plans to equip Burkina Faso with state-of-the-art research tools by early 2026 and highlighted the construction of the “Faso Bangre” center to support the winners of the “Faso Andube” platform.
In his address to the youth, President Traore cautioned against distractions that hinder innovation and advocated for scientific patriotism, urging researchers to dedicate their expertise to national service. He stressed the importance of combining knowledge with patriotism for the success of the Burkinabe Revolution, which he believes should be both scientific and technological.
A significant announcement from the opening ceremony was President Traore’s decision to increase the awards for the forum’s winners by fivefold, signaling a strong commitment to fostering scientific and technological advancements in the nation.
