Sissili Hosts Patriotic Immersion Ceremony for Young High School Graduates


Ouagadougou: The official closing ceremony for the inaugural batch of compulsory patriotic immersion high school graduates took place in Leo, Sissili province. This initiative aims to reinforce civic, patriotic, and social cohesion among young participants.



According to Burkina Information Agency, several speeches were delivered at the Place de la Nation in Leo, marking the conclusion of the program. Pastor Andre Adouabou, representing traditional and religious authorities, extended blessings to the youth and urged unity and peace for the nation. Kassoum Koalaga, President of the special delegation of Leo, praised the commitment of the young people and expressed satisfaction with the successful execution of the activity in his commune.



Serge Lawabien Toe, the provincial director of secondary education, vocational, and technical training, acknowledged the success of this pilot edition and commended Dr. Abdou Aboubacary for implementing health measures during the immersion. Toe advised the young participants to adopt the immersion experience as a way of life, emphasizing the nation’s expectations and hopes for them.



The representative of the participants expressed gratitude to President Captain Ibrahim Traore for the initiative and to the program supervisors. He highlighted the enriching nature of the training weeks, followed by a reading of the charter of the patriotic immersed people, committing each participant to integrity, hard work, and patriotism.



The ceremony featured an artistic performance by Leo’s Tampani troupe, showcasing local culture through dances and songs. A poignant slam by participant Aboubacar Niangao paid tribute to the nation and its future. Tewende Isaac Sia, High Commissioner of Sissili, delivered closing remarks, underscoring the initiative’s importance in connecting young people with national institutions and promoting development and peace.



Sayouba Zorome, representing Ziro, expressed satisfaction with the program’s inaugural success and optimism for future editions. Despite heavy rain, the ceremony included a symbolic presentation of certificates and a parade of the cohorts, demonstrating pride and determination.



The patriotic immersion concluded successfully, strengthening the youth’s sense of national belonging and resilience. This first edition saw participation from 1102 high school graduates, including 327 from Ziro and 2 from the diaspora.
