Tenkodogo: Health stakeholders, administrative, customary and religious authorities of the Tenkodogo health district, as well as technical and financial partners, took part, on September 10, 2025, in a workshop to analyze and validate the draft District Health Development Plan (PDSD) 2026-2030. The initiative, supported by Enabel, aims to provide the district with an inclusive strategic document adapted to the needs of the population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his opening address, the Chief Medical Officer of the Tenkodogo Health District, Dr. Soyinte Some, emphasized that the development of the PDSD is based on a participatory approach, involving all stakeholders, from health facilities to local communities. “The objective is to have a realistic, inclusive plan that is consistent with the realities on the ground,” he said. Dr. Some recalled that all the preparatory steps-data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and technical support from the Regional Health Directorate and the Department of Foresight and Planning-were carried out rigorously. He specified that the district has a maximum period of two months, until November 15, 2025, to finalize and disseminate the plan. The representative of the High Commissioner of Boulgou, Lalle Siaka Yao, emphasized the importance of mobilizing all social strata. “This document is not just a health tool; it takes into account the overall well-being of the population,” he s
aid. According to him, the presence of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as representatives from the municipalities of Bissiga, Bagre, and Tenkodogo, illustrates the inclusive nature of the process.
For her part, the representative of the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel), Ada Yangane, recalled that the strategic health plan is part of the cooperation between Belgium and Burkina Faso. She indicated that Enabel’s technical and financial support aims to provide the district with a solid reference document, offering a five-year vision. Ms. Yangane also emphasized that this plan goes beyond annual plans by integrating health determinants such as gender, water, hygiene, and the environment. She urged stakeholders to take ownership of the document and actively involve themselves in its implementation in order to sustainably improve the health status of the population.
This workshop marks a decisive step in the development of the PDSD 2026-2030. With the commitment of local authorities, technical support from national structures, and financial backing from Enabel, the health district aims to equip itself with a unifying strategic tool. Participants agreed that the success of this plan will depend on the synergy of action between all stakeholders, in order to guarantee an efficient, inclusive, and resilient health system for the benefit of the people of Boulgou.
