WHR Global Releases “Ask the Expert” 2023 Destination Services Benchmark Report

MILWAUKEE, April 25, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — WHR Global (WHR), a leader in the global employee relocation industry, announced the release of its international 2023 Destination Services Benchmark Report called “Ask the Expert.” WHR surveyed 32 companies from its trusted destination services provider network, covering 56 countries worldwide. WHR believes its Benchmark report will help current and future clients compare their global mobility programs to other companies’ destination service offerings for relocating employees and assignees. As companies continue to compete for talent, relocation benefits must be competitive.

Destination services help relocating employees get settled in their new location and can include the following: Area Orientation; Local Registration; Tenancy Management, Lease Check Out and Property Management; Home Search; Mortgage Counseling; Temporary Housing; Spousal and Partner Career Assistance; Help with Immigration (Visa and Immigration Regulations); School Search for Children; Moving Pets; Language and Cultural Training; and Other Settling-In Services.

WHR’s Benchmark data includes the following for 56 countries:

  • The average number of days companies offer destination services and days recommended, by country (by entry-level, mid-level and executive-level employees; and by varying family sizes).
  • The most common leasing arrangement for expats, by country.
  • Destination services presenting the most difficulty, by country.
  • Departure services offered for employees leaving a location, by country.
  • Ease or difficulty getting security deposits back and timeline, by country.
  • Additional recommended destination services, by country.

According to WHR Strategic Initiatives Manager, Sean Thrun, “Benchmarking destination services helps answer key questions that are critical to employee engagement and retention: Am I offering my employees enough support? Should we provide departure services, or are employees capable of handling on their own? What should my employees be aware of when they move to this country? If your employees are highly specialized and difficult to replace, this Benchmark will guide the service level you provide, and help your employees relocate eyes wide open.”

Findings from the comprehensive Benchmark include:

  • In Germany, a security deposit can take up to 11 months to be returned because the tenant must wait until the end of the year for utility company calculations.
  • In the Philippines, a destination service provider recommended at least two days support for entry-level employees (with family sizes of one) and five days of support for executive-level employees (with family sizes of three).

O relatório do benchmark abrangente inclui:

Cerqueira calls for boosting cooperation between Angola and Morocco

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, highlighted Monday in Rabat the need to boost bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco.

Speaking in a meeting with members of the Angolan diplomatic corps in Rabat, in the scope of a five-day visit at the invitation of the Moroccan parliament as part of the cooperation, Carolina Cerqueira stated that Morocco has potential and experience that can contribute to Angola´s development.

“Morocco has a very important role in the African continent, because it is one of the countries with the strongest economy in Africa. One of the richest and most developed countries in Africa and an example to be followed in the continent”, revealed Carolina Cerqueira.

To her, Morocco has a very important “value” in the African context and it should be taken advantage of for the well-being of the Angolan communities.

The Angolan parliament Speaker appealed to the diplomatic mission to make the issuance of entry visas to Angola flexible so as to attract more investors and investments which contribute to the development of Angola.

Carolina Cerqueira said that as regard to the parliamentary domain, the National Assembly can take advantage of the Moroccan experience to boost its actions in the pacification process of Africa, taking into account Angola´s crucial role in the Great Lakes Region in Southern Africa, the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), and other regional organizations.

The parliamentarian stressed the need for the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy for the pacification of the continent, especially with emphasis in the Eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“The Angolan parliament has a very important role in the regional and international political context, focusing on parliamentary diplomacy to contribute to actions aimed at the welfare of communities and pacification”, informed Carolina Cerqueira.

In her view, given the role it plays in the regional, African and international contexts parliamentary diplomacy plays a major role in affirming Angola within the world arena.

During the five-day visit, the Angolan parliamentary delegation made up of deputies Alcides Sakala, Lourdes Caposso and Narciso Benedito, as well as the secretary general of the National Assembly, Agostinho Nery, has on the agenda the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Representatives, meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, Rachid Talbi Alami, with the President of the House of Councillors, Naam Miyara and courtesy meetings with officials of the Angolan diplomatic mission.

According to the program, the Angolan parliamentary delegation is also scheduled to visit the Mausoleum of King Mohammed V, a trip to Tangier city in the northwestern region of Morocco and a visit to the Port of Tangier Mediterranean.

Angola counts on Austria to build a “strong” economy

Angolan minister of State for Economic Coordination Manuel Nunes Júnior Tuesday has expressed the country’s availability to learn of Austria’s experience to build a “strong” economy and stop depending on oil exports.

The minister said so at the Angola-Austria business forum, as part of the visit of the head of Austrian government, Karl Nehammer, to Angola, since Monday.

Manuel Nunes Júnior reiterated Angola’s intention to build an economy based on “strong” and sustainable growth.

“Our economy is still very dependent on oil resources. And therefore, is very vulnerable to external shocks resulting from price variations on that product on the international market,” the minister of State said.

He noted that the oil resources accounted for over 60 percent of the country’s tax revenues and over 80 percent of export revenues.

The minister announced the country’s effort to end its dependence on oil resources.

Looking at Austria’s industrial potential worldwide, Nunes Júnior invited that country’s investors to invest in Angola and contribute to the diversification of the Angola’s economy.

“Austrian investments are welcome in practically all areas of the Angolan economy,” he added.

Focusing on the characteristics of the Austrian economy, he said that Angola hoped to promote business partnerships in sectors linked to agriculture, information technology, cybersecurity and digitalisation, the environment and sanitation, education, transport and energy.

According to the official, the Angolan government is very interested in working with the Austrian authorities to structure a credit line with favourable terms and conditions, even concessional, with low interest rates and repayment of long term.

Addressing the Chancellor, he appealed to Austria to help build an economy less dependent on oil, an economy that grows in a sustained and sustainable way.

He said that Angola wants economic aid that generates more jobs and raises Angolans’ incomes, an economy that combats hunger and poverty and manages to raise living standards.

“(…) We want to change definitively the economic structure of Angola, so that we have a more diversified economy, an economy in which the private sector plays a more active role in the overall performance of the economy and action decreases in the weight of the oil sector in GDP,” he noted.

According to Nunes Júnior, Angola needs to develop businesses such as agriculture, manufacturing, fishing, tourism, construction and other sectors that help to diversify sources of income.

In his view, only in this way will Angola have an economy that can exhibit sustainable levels of growth over time and based on criteria of competitiveness and skills.

Nunes Júnior spoke of the reforms underway to increase the confidence of economic agents operating in Angola’s economy.
