7th Edition of National Tree Day Sees Over 650 Plants Planted in Yargatenga

Bittou: The Koulp©logo province marked the 7th edition of the National Tree Day (JNA) on July 31, 2025, with a significant planting event in the rural commune of Yargatenga, where 657 plants were planted.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of Yargatenga, Jean Sare, led the ceremony celebrating this edition of the JNA. The event took place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, and saw the planting of a total of 657 plants, predominantly medicinal, over an area of 2 hectares. This initiative aligns with the presidential goal of achieving pharmaceutical sovereignty and combating desertification by establishing medicinal groves in the provinces.

The Commander of Water and Forests, Jean Bosco Zongo, addressed the community, highlighting the President of Faso's vision for food self-sufficiency through the cultivation of plants that provide Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). He emphasized the importance of community involvement in monitoring the plants and expressed gratitude to the company Wellende et fils for their role in securing the plantation site.
