The governor of Lunda-Norte, Filomena Miza, Monday began a field trip to the municipalities of Cuango, Caungula and Cuilo, to find out about the implementation of projects under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities, Combating Poverty and structuring works.
Among the projects to be inspected is the photovoltaic plant, which has been underway since December 2023 in the mining town of Cafunfo, in the municipality of Cuango.
The project has a three-year execution period and will include a photovoltaic park with 72,000 panels, which will have the capacity to produce 41.40 megawatts and a further 101.80 MW stored in batteries for night-time production.
As part of the rural electrification project, the plant, budgeted at 1.27 billion 914 euros, includes public lighting, a medium, high and low voltage distribution network and 202,657 household connections.
As part of this project, Lunda-Norte has benefited from 15 power stations in the same number of communes in the municipalities of Cuango, Ca
ungula, Cambulo, Capenda Camulemba, Lubalo and Xá-muteba, which are expected to benefit 74,368 families.
In the municipality of Cuango, where she began her seven-day working trip in the southern part of the province, Filomena Miza will find out about the work on the Medium Health Institute, part of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM).
The three-day agenda in Cuango includes visits to the municipal hospital, separate meetings with the Community Consultation Council, representatives of political parties, religious and youth leaders, traditional authorities and businesspeople.
In the municipality of Caungula, the governor will inaugurate a ten-classroom school, as well as finding out about the physical and financial progress of the Municipal Complex, which has been underway since 2022, and the state of the Alameda Avenue ravine.
In Cuilo, he will inspect the construction of three schools and two medical centres, as well as meeting the Community Consultation Council and visiting the Municipal Ho
spital, where he plans to deliver drugs.
