Maseru: More than M1 million was raised at the official launch of the Shoeshoe ea Moshoeshoe Trust and Foundation held in Maseru on Thursday evening. The event marked a significant milestone in efforts to preserve the heritage and identity of the Basotho nation while promoting national development. According to African Press Organization, the Shoeshoe ea Moshoeshoe Foundation is an initiative spearheaded by Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso. The Foundation aims to create a meaningful impact on national development, focusing on youth development, cultural preservation, education, mental wellness, and sustainable community development across Lesotho. During the event, King Letsie III praised Princess Senate for her dedication, noting that she had pursued the initiative independently, seeking guidance from the King and Queen only when necessary. Princess Senate explained that the Foundation was inspired by her experiences studying in Canada and the spirit of Lesotho's bicentennial celebrations. She emphasized the Foundation's focus on investing in young people, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping Lesotho's future. Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane, also present at the event, highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and dedication in ensuring the sustainability of such initiatives.
