OACPS calls for active participation of Angola

Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) has called on Angolan representation to actively participate in the Assembly body of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP).

The appeal was launched Thursday in Luanda by the Speaker of Parliamentary Assembly of OACPS, Anna Rita Sithole.

Sithole said so at the end of a meeting with the First Deputy Speaker of the Angolan Parliament, Américo Cuononoca.

“I appeal to the Angolan delegation to continue to play a key role it has played in recent times during my presidency at the ACP Assembly,” said Sithole, who is also President of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly

The Speaker of Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States took the opportunity to congratulate journalists on World Press Freedom Day, celebrated on Wednesday (3 May).

OACPS official praised the work done by journalists which, according to her, helps the people follow up the best decisions and boost the development of the countries.

The Speaker of the Parliamentary Assembly of OACPS, who has been in Angola since Wednesday, met with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

Angola took over the OACPS chair at the 10th Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the organisation held in Luanda from 6 to 10 December, 2022.

The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States is an international body, resulting from the evolution of the ACP Group, which brings together 79 Member States from the three continents.
