Plans for Butula Huduma Centre Completed

Nairobi: Construction of a Huduma Centre in Butula Sub County is set to begin soon, Butula Member of Parliament Joseph Oyula has said. Speaking in Butula, Oyula stated that the initiative would bring government services closer to local residents.

According to Kenya News Agency, the area DCC has already identified a location for the construction, which will be funded through the NG-CDF. Oyula emphasized that the Huduma Centre would provide all services currently sought at the Huduma Centre in Busia, making them accessible within Butula. The planned storey building will also feature an ICT hub, aimed at offering youth opportunities to learn computer skills.

Oyula highlighted the importance of the ICT sector in addressing unemployment issues, noting, “We understand there is a problem of unemployment, and ICT is seen as a sector that can offer opportunities for the youth. We will have an ICT hub for our youth to train in ICT and be able to work online.”

The lawmaker also criticized the Busia County Government for not initiating impactful projects in Butula and accused them of taking credit for national government projects. He cited examples such as the Bumala Modern Market, asserting that these projects were funded by the national government. Oyula expressed concern over the misuse of county funds and urged his constituents not to be swayed by misleading rhetoric.

In addition to the Huduma Centre, Oyula mentioned that the Kenya Medical Training College in Butula has commenced classes with an enrollment of 118 local students. He encouraged residents to enroll their children and also promoted Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, noting that 846 youth from Butula Sub County have already enrolled in TVETs.

Oyula concluded by urging residents to support government projects for the development of the area. “We have seen what the government is doing for us here. My message to everyone is to support all projects initiated for our benefit. Let’s work closely with our leaders for better service delivery,” he stated.
