Public Health calls on public to patronise Polio Vaccination services


Dr. Gifty Amugi, the Director of Public Health at the Western Regional Health Service, has called on parents to fully adhere to routine Immunization and Vaccination schemes to ensure that children under five are fully protected.

She said, children under five were susceptible to many viral and bacterial infections and could be protected from dangers associated with these viruses through proper and routine Immunization and Vaccination coupled with clean environment.

Dr. Amugi, also the Deputy Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service told journalists that a Polio viral had reared its ugly head in some part of Eastern Region, hence the need for an immediate Vaccination exercise to nib its effects in the bud among children under five.

‘Therefore, from October 17 to 21, the service would embark on an Immunization exercise to ensure that about 14 million children were vaccinated,’ she said.

Dr. Amugi said, ‘we are reaching the last childโ€ฆvaccines save life and as a service we are bent on securing the lives
of these future leaders’.

The public health expert entreated the public to ensure cleaner communities.
