Seoul: On the margins of the 2026 KOAFEC Ministerial Conference, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Development Planning of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Honorable Dr. Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane, held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea, Dr. Jisung Moon. The discussions centered on strengthening economic cooperation between Lesotho and the Republic of Korea, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, digitalization, healthcare, education, agriculture, climate change, critical minerals, and infrastructure development. According to African Press Organization, the Republic of Korea encouraged Lesotho to utilize the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) to access Korean expertise, develop viable projects, and lay the groundwork for possible financing through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). This initiative is seen as a strategic move to leverage Korean knowledge and resources to foster growth and development within Lesotho. The meeting als o reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthen their bilateral ties and maintain their longstanding relations as they prepare to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2026. This milestone marks a significant chapter in the collaborative efforts between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of continued partnership and mutual development.
