Ouagadougou: Burkinabe exports to China have seen remarkable growth, with trade volume nearly doubling between 2018 and 2022, rising from US$310 million to US$610 million. This increase highlights the strengthening of economic ties between the two nations following the resumption of diplomatic relations in May 2018.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Ambassador Sun Jiwen emphasized that the renewed relationship has fostered significant progress in multiple development sectors, including trade, education, and health. The dynamic cooperation in trade, bolstered by a zero-percent customs duty on African exports to China, has been a key factor in this growth.
The trade expansion, from $310 million to $400 million within the specified period, has been mutually beneficial for both Burkina Faso and China, positively impacting the citizens of both countries. The steady rise in trade volume underscores the commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
