US-China Trade Talks in Sweden End Without Truce Extension

Stockholm: Two days of talks between delegations from Beijing and Washington ended without an extension of the tariff truce set to expire on August 12. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that Donald Trump still needs to be briefed on the discussions.

According to France24.com, the International Monetary Fund has revised its global growth outlook upward, as Trump's tariff policies are scaled back. Meanwhile, Lesotho's textile industry remains on edge ahead of the August 1 tariff deadline. The discussions in Sweden were aimed at finding common ground to extend the tariff truce, but parties left the negotiating table without reaching an agreement.

The failure to extend the truce could have significant implications for global trade, with potential ripple effects across various economies. The upcoming deadlines are crucial, and both nations are under pressure to reach a consensus to avoid further economic disruptions.
