Burkina’s Mid-Term Sectoral Dialogue Framework Review Shows Satisfactory Progress in Culture and Tourism

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo, inaugurated the mid-term review of the Sectoral Dialogue Framework (CSD) for "Culture, Tourism, Sports and Leisure" in Ouagadougou. This initiative aims to enhance accountability, transparency, and performance in public action.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the CSD is a strategic tool developed by the State to ensure transparency and accountability in public actions. It gathers executives from various ministerial departments, technical and financial partners, private sector representatives, and professional organizations, along with customary and religious leaders.

"The sectoral dialogue framework is an opportune moment to objectively assess the progress made during the first half of 2025," stated Minister Ou©draogo. He emphasized that the session provides a space for stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue, shared evaluations, and co-construction of sectoral policies.

Significant achievements were highlighted by the minister, including the successful 29th edition of FESPACO, the third edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month, and the inauguration of the Thomas Sankara mausoleum. The reopening of the August 4 Stadium was also noted as a key milestone.

In the sports sector, the reopening of the August 4 Stadium, the construction of a multi-purpose sports ground in Bobo-Dioulasso, and the registration of 20 sports facilities were acknowledged. Additionally, nearly 150 medals were earned in international competitions.

For youth development, 745 young individuals participated in educational camps, and more than 1,200 students were mobilized for university games in Fada N'Gourma.

In tourism, substantial progress includes support for 52 cultural and tourism operators by the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT), inspections of 950 tourism businesses, and welcoming 36,000 visitors to Faso Tourism Agency sites. Additionally, 150 operators were educated on combating money laundering and terrorism financing.

Minister Ou©draogo cautioned that despite these achievements, challenges persist, such as inaccessibility due to insecurity, lack of suitable equipment, and insufficient resources. He urged stakeholders to propose innovative solutions tailored to ground realities to achieve the strategic objective of developing a competitive industrial and craft sector with high added value and job creation.
